Ragdoll for Christmas
My niece's baby girl is about a year and a half and getting into baby dolls. I wanted to make her a "drag around" dolly that resembled her, so I stitched up this one. It was a fun project that my DD and laughed about as I struggled to turn, stuff and clothe this gawky little doll. I do like the flip hair, a la "Sally" from Peanuts, though!
But in the end, I think she turned out cute. Landry smiled and hugged her! That's all that I needed!

Custom Clothing ..They're Goin' To A Party!
Hey, One of my all time FAVORITE clients here wanted an outfit to wear to their Christmas party! They own a pharmacy here, and are having the party in their beautiful home. I made her this set, actually a dress (forgot pic) with a santa to wear under this jacket. Her grand-daughter got the lime green pant set. I hope these outfits enjoy the party!

Some Of My Favorite Things Custom Portrait
I did this when my DD was four. I call it my "Story Book Illustration" portrait.
It is one of my favorites, so I decided to offer it as a custom portrait on Etsy. The words are all the things that were very important in her world at that age. I've done several of these for clients locally. I enjoy turning an ordinary photo into this swirly, fantasy, casual portrait! I think it is a nice alternative to a formal oil. What do you all think?

We Are Over The Rainbow!
This is my DD in her Crow Costume from the play, The Wizard of Oz, that she performed in last weekend through our local Community College. We worked on the show for about three months, I did alot of set painting. My DD was a backup singer to the scarecrow, a Citizen of Oz, singer in Glinda's Chorus, and she did a small Solo in the ending song. And yes, I made the costume, four actually! Good Times! Can't wait until our next play!

WHOOOOO IS Special??
Well This Owl Ornament certainly is! I was so honored to win the order for this One-Of-A-Kind Owl Ornament in Etsy's Alchemy! This client wanted a special Owl ornament for her two year old daughter. Well, I started with hand-dyed crushed velvet, hot pink, and made the stuffed body. Then I made the wings out of silk in an earthy iridescent brown. The wings have both machine and hand embroidery. The beak and feet are sculpted out of clay and painted. The eyes are glass with wonky stitched eyelids. The ear tufts are wool roving, hand stitched! The little feathers on the chest are pink sequins sewn on with french knots over scraps of printed linen. The hanger is a silk ribbon tied in a bow that also holds the tag with the child's name. There are sweet little furry tufts on top of the wings and beak. The eyes have stitched wool circles around them. The branch is a rolled piece of wool for her delicate toes to grasp. I am so proud of her, it was very HARD to let her go. And, by the way, she happens to be my very first "out of the country" order! She has gone to Canada! Thanks so much Sara! I hope Josephine loves her owl! I really Loved making her!
And for the rest of you...Please visit my Etsy shop for a custom order of your very own!

A Lovely Testimonial!
When my DD was in third or fourth grade, (can't remember), her gifted teacher had her make an Orphan Annie costume for her toddler daughter. You have to see this child's RED hair! Anyway, she has worn it every year since, and thus outgrown the dress! We were honored when she asked us again this year to make the same design again! My daughter works with me in my Diva Do classes, she teaches the K-1st grade class, and we work on projects like this once in a while! She actually gets quite a few requests like this from teachers at her school!
Sooo, I thought that was a very nice testimonial for our work! The big dress is the new one! The little dress is the first one! Sweet huh? Get lots of candy Mary Margaret!
Another little tidbit...both my daughter and this lovely child are performing in "The Wizard of Oz" at our local community theatre the week before Thanksgiving!

More School Work!
These are two "twin" paintings I did for our Elementary School. They were commissioned by the Principal for her office. They are large works, about five feet tall each! No school funds used though, she bought them herself!

America's Next Top Dog Model!
My sister came up and did a photo shoot with my DD and Shih Tzu, Clementine, this weekend. She is working with a benefit for a dog park in Birmingham and is going to be the photographer. She needed some additional pics for her portfolio, so she made some of my dog. Cute, huh? I don't know which one had more fun, but the Shih Tzu really got into the flash and clicking!
Check out more of my sister's work at www.conniecollumphotography.com

Out on a Whim!
Yesterday we drove two and a half hours (straight from school) to check out our very first casting call for a real movie! My DD is very much into stage plays and has several under her belt already at age twelve, but yesterday we did something totally new! We drove to another town, quite a ways away, to an open casting call for "The Story of Bonnie and Clyde", a film starring Hillary Duff, scheduled for March 2010. It was a very cool experience for her. Totally on a Whim! Now, we wait for call backs! Here are actors already cast in the film. Exciting!

Custom Art for Guntersville Elementary School!
I just finished these paintings for our Elementary School. They have created a new "Fitness Room" for the kids, and asked me to do some "Life Sport" images for the area. These are very large scale paintings! I also made some motivational pennants with "RUN" , "PLAY", and "JUMP" words on them. What do you all think?

My First Promotion Spot on Etsy!
I went ahead and purchased a promo spot on Etsy in the children's area. I had to wait three weeks for it to come up. The children's spots are almost always sold out. Mine went up at midnight last night. I featured my first of the season Back To School dress with big bold appliques of a schoolgirl and cute & funky school supplies! Check it out!

Monster Makins'
One of my Etsy clients wanted some craft ideas for a two year old boy. I made her a Monster Makin's kit with this little guy. He can stuff , empty, and restuff over and over again a-la-velcro opening!
I also made Scrappy Blocks made from my scrap lumber from my canvas stretching work. I painted them and provided cute art papers to glue on. Then, set them up and knock them down!
