A Special Gift from my Daughter (with my mom's help!)

My mom helped my daughter get an enlargement made of a photo taken from the play,
"Meet Me in St. Louis", for Christmas. This was our favorite play so far.
My daughter played "Tootie". Such a nice keepsake!

Double Trouble

In the last three days I managed to have two big disasters! First, my serger broke down in the middle of holiday orders. Being without my serger is like being without a car!....Uh Oh! Did I say car?
I filled up my tank at the local Shell station Thursday morning, and the car died as soon as I left the station. In the middle of a busy four-lane, in the pouring rain!
I had to tow her in to the repair shop. Guess what? The tank was about ninty-five% filled with WATER!!! Two days later (and about $700.00 later) They said it was in the gas and you couldn't know until it was too late!
We just trust that what we are buying is ok. I hope disaster doesn't really come in threes. YIKES!

ALREADY?????

I was thinking about all of the Christmas ads out now. I know we're into the season by now, but really, they have been pushing Christmas since Halloween! I haven't even had my Thanksgiving turkey yet! I know the retailers are scared this year, but, what ever happened to simple Christmases when everyone appreciated whatever they received? It might be a little nerdy, but I remember an episode of "Little House on the Prairie" when the girls were thrilled to get a big peppermint stick from Santa.
I want to encourage you all to simplify this year. Maybe make something, or at least buy handmade. Maybe start some sort of tradition with simple low to no cost celebrating with your kids. Shop local. Make a big deal out of simple pleasures like a box of Chocolate covered Cherries! (I remember getting these from Santa as a child)
Remember the reason behind the celebration. Just a thought.

My Other Blog

Hey! My main business is designing & producing my art based products here in Guntersville, but I do have another activity as well. I am the creater & owner of "Diva Do's", my all girl art & crafting class I teach for kindergarteners up to middle school. We are currently in our fifth year! I decided they deserved their own space to be shown off, so I started the Diva Do Blog...we call it The Diva Noo's. Check it out at www.DivaDos.blogspot.com

They liked it! They really liked it!!

Yea! Success! My big girl Divas really liked the project today! Even my most persnickety ones said they would really use the cute messenger bag we made! I sewed the bag & they hand appliqued their choice of Kawaii style cuteness. My daughter chose to do a cute pink monster, pictured here.Other designs included a cupcake, a ladybug, and a pawprint (school mascot). It is a good day when cool middle school girls like the project! Diva Do's is my all girls art & craft class I started when my DD was in second grade.
