I was thinking about all of the Christmas ads out now. I know we're into the season by now, but really, they have been pushing Christmas since Halloween! I haven't even had my Thanksgiving turkey yet! I know the retailers are scared this year, but, what ever happened to simple Christmases when everyone appreciated whatever they received? It might be a little nerdy, but I remember an episode of "Little House on the Prairie" when the girls were thrilled to get a big peppermint stick from Santa.
I want to encourage you all to simplify this year. Maybe make something, or at least buy handmade. Maybe start some sort of tradition with simple low to no cost celebrating with your kids. Shop local. Make a big deal out of simple pleasures like a box of Chocolate covered Cherries! (I remember getting these from Santa as a child)
Remember the reason behind the celebration. Just a thought.
