Sibling Rivalry

This is a custom hand embroidered pillow I made for an Etsy customer. She is going to give it as a baby shower gift. The cute part is tht it features the older sister, as she is expected to react to the new girl baby! Too Cute! I use Vintage wool yarns and freehand stitch my pillows. More Cute "Crewel" (?) Well, My Silly Kind Anyway

I listed several of my cute "crewel" pillows in my Etsy shop this week. I am really just making up this stuff. I am using burlap and Vintage wool yarns, mostly French...but, mine is much more loose and freestyle than traditional crewel.
I don't do traditional!
No patterns, kits or charts...just me!
This is my Easter Sweeties pillow. I love the whacky all over the place stitches!
Hey, notice the wooly chick? I made that, in wool of course, with a very old tool that I bought on Ebay! It was from the fifties, but the creator said she designed it in the twenties! How cool? Such a simple tool, but such Fab results!
Oh, yeah, more of those to come too!

Hey, What's New?

My latest obsession is searching for Vintage Wool Yarn, crewel or tapestry, to use in my newest project....Freehand Silly Stitching! I have always loved crewel, we had those flowery kits in the 70's. And, my first professional work was to design a handknit sweater line which I sold through boutiques for over a decade. But my sweaters were cotton. I am from the south, and we just don't do wool sweaters! I have always loved the feel of wool yarn though. So, I have been working on some cute freehand designs lately. I have stitched these on burlap. I LOVE the way Burlap smells!
The little pillow is the first I've listed on Etsy. My Sweet Hedgehog mini is in my shop right now! (click link on right)
Not being one to follow charts and graphs, I had rather freehand stitch on a whim however I like.
